WHAT'S THIS MOVIE ABOUT?
"The Nightmare Before Christmas" was a stop-motion animated musical film that was directed by Henry Selick and it was based off a poem that was written by Tim Burton in 1982. Originally, the film was placed under the Touchstone Pictures label due to the studio thinking that the film would be "too dark and scary for kids." The film also consisted of the vocal talents of Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara, William Hickey, Ken Page, Paul Reubens, Glenn Shadix and Ed Ivory.
The movie starts off with the King of Halloween Town, Jack Skellington, celebrating another successful year of Halloween. But unfortunately, Jack started to grow tired of the Halloween season and he wanted to do something else. One day, Jack stumbles upon a mysterious door in the woods that leads to Christmas Town and once Jack lands in Christmas Town, he starts growing interested in the traditions of Christmas and Santa Claus and it was then that Jack decided to take over Christmas for the year as Santa Claus. But unfortunately, because Jack was so used to scaring people for most of his life, he ended up giving out gifts that scared all the children and this would cause problems for everyone involved. Meanwhile, Oogie Boogie, Jack's nemesis, ends up taking the real Santa Claus and tries to torture him, while Jack is busy with delivering the presents around the world.
