WHAT IS RABBIT EARS?

Rabbit Ears Productions was a production company created in 1985 by Mark Sottnick and the series was known for adapting popular children's literature from around the world and featuring celebrities narrating the stories, which included Danny Glover, Robin Williams, Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep and many others. The series was often released on home video, broadcast on Showtime and reruns on PBS and later on, the stories were released on CDs, VHS and DVDs from several different distributors, which included Random House Home Video, Sony Video Software and Uni Distribution Corp. The series was also well known for using a limited animation technique where still images are moved throughout the scenes. The series has also won numerous awards, which included the Parents' Choice Awards and the Grammy Awards. Years later, the company was renamed Rabbit Ears Entertainment.

There were a total of 65 stories made and the company featured five series, which were Storybook Classics, We All Have Tales, American Heroes and Legends, the Greatest Stories Ever Told and Holiday Classics. The very first story ever made was The Velveteen Rabbit, which was narrated by Meryl Streep and the final story ever made was The White Cat, which was narrated by Emma Thompson.

In 2024, Rabbit Ears Entertainment was acquired by Vanguard Animation and the company started uploading full episodes of their stories on its official YouTube channel.
